After 555 votes cast in the past week, the 2019 Grand Prix Road Race Grand Prix slate is set for competition. Those voting members gave the nod to the following seven events:
March 17 New Bedford Half Marathon (New Bedford MA)
March 30 Frank Nealon Boston Tune-Up 15K (Upton MA)
May 18 Run Westfield 5K (Westfield MA)
August 10 Bridge of Flowers 5 Mile (Shelburne Falls MA)
August 24 New Hampshire 10 Miler (Auburn NH)
September 22 Lone Gull 10K (Gloucester MA)
October 27 Cape Cod Marathon (Falmouth MA)
The 15 km and 10M were the only "wild card" distances to bid and were automatic selections while the others were in a runoff among two or three bids
All the races have a reputation for quality and being 'athlete centered' events. The half, 15 km, 10 Mile, and 10 km are repeaters from the 2017 schedule. Bridge of Flowers and Cape Cod Marathon return to the series after a few years away, but both have changes since last a championship; BOF was originally a 10 km, and Falmouth will introduce a new course in 2019.
Run Westfield presents a flat and fast point to point 5km that should produce some of the year's fastest times by New Englanders.
We wish to thank all the races that bid and those people who helped recruit races and engaged in the selection process.
