2018 T&F Championship Recap

2018 USATF-New England Track and Field Championships

College of the Holy Cross, Worcester MA

July 28th, 2018

It was a beautiful day for a track meet out in Worcester. Partly sunny skies with the temperature hovering around the low 80s. Hot, but not unbearable. Winds were calm out of the Northwest, never really exceeding 5mph. The meet started around 10am and wrapped around 2:15. Events included all throws and jumps, and most rack evetns from the 100m dash to the 5k. The 3k steeple and racewalk were also offered. 203 people made the trip out to Worcester, a number higher than average. That is not including the runners in Friday Night Lights 10k 8 days earlier, which served as the 10k aspect of this championship.

The winning women’s team was Sprinticity Track Club from Burlington, Vermont. Sprinticity scored in most of the running and jumping events to put up 52 points. Boston-North came in second with 38 points. Of those 38 points, 23 of them came in 3 events: the 100m dash, 200m dash and 400m run.  In a distant third was the Providence Cobras with 12 points.

The men’s team competition went similarly, with Sprinticity taking home the first place prize. They rallied the troops and scored in all but 5 events, earning 63 points for their labor. Boston-North men took home the lion’s share of points given in sprint, hurdle, and relay events, but could not overpower Sprinticity’s diverse range. Boston-North pulled out 42 points. In third with 27 points were the Twilight Throwers, who-surprise!- focused on the throwing events.

Listed below are the I.A.A.F points for winning all winners. Full results can be found on coolrunning and our website. Follow this link: http://www.coolrunning.com/results/18/ma/Jul28_USATFN_set1.shtml
