2018 USATF New England All Terrain (ATR) Series

3/14/2018

USA Track  & Field New England (USATF-NE) is pleased to announce the 2018 ATR Series.  We are focused on increasing participation of USATF-NE members of all ability levels and believe this year’s series will build upon the success of the first several ATR Series.

The 2018 ATR Series will consist of five races across five USATF disciplines and three different New England states:

The 2018 ATR Series will focus primarily on rewarding completion of the series.  Any series participant who completes all five races will receive a USATF-NE ATR Series high performance long-sleeve pullover.  Any series participant who completes four of the five races will receive a USATF-NE ATR Series t-shirt.

The 2018 ATR Series will award $100 to the winner in each of four categories: Male Open, Female Open, Male Masters, Female Masters.  The winners will be announced at the conclusion of the USATF-NE XC Championship (11/5/18).

We hope that this year’s series structure will encourage more USATF-NE members to test themselves to complete four or all five of the ATR Series races.

The following is a list of the official rules:

  1. Participants must be a 2018 USATF Member (participants from any USATF Association are welcome).
  2. Participants must declare themselves for the 2018 ATR Series prior to July 1, 2018.
  3. ATR Series standings will be based on the sum of “Percentile Points” achieved in each race.  Percentile Points will be calculated for each race just like a standardized test: ((Total Finishers – Place)/Total Finishers) * 100.  Example of the scoring system: if a runner comes in 20th out of 200 finishers, they would get 90.0 points calculated as follows: ((200-20)/200) * 100 = 90.0 points.
  4. All finishers in a given race, regardless of whether they are USATF members, will count in the determination of the Percentile Point calculation.
  5. Percentile Points calculations will be carried to one decimal point for each race.  In the case of a tie, the tie will be broken by the comparing participants’ top Percentile Point race score.
  6. A bonus of 10.0 points will be awarded to all finishers of the USATF-NE Cross Country Championship (11/5/18).
  7. ATR Series participants will not need to compete in all five races to be in the final standings.
  8. ATR Series standings will be posted on the USATF-NE website and social media platforms on a regular basis after July 1, 2018.
  9. To be awarded prize money, participants must be 18 years or older and not be a current NCAA athlete.
  10. All scoring will be done by the USATF-NE Office.  Any disputes on Percentile Point calculations on the first four races of the ATR Series must be filed by September 15, 2018.
