5 USATF-NE athletes win gold at Hershey Youth Indoor Championships in NYC


Five USATF-NE youth won gold medals at the 2017 USATF Hershey Youth Indoor Championships held at the beautiful Ocean Breeze facility on Staten Island, New York City.
Two of those winners, both from Rhode Island and both in the weight throw, set meet records; Annika Kelly of Barrington, won the girls 15-16 division with a throw of , 48-5.50 while Jared Briere of Woonsocket won the boys 17-18 divison with a best of 72-6.25.  Kelly led a New England 1-2-3 sweep in girls in girls 15-16 division as Sydney Polando and Cheyenne Figuerod finished second and third, respectively, behind Kelly.
Also coming home as National Champions were Gabrielle Portalla Haverhill Elite (8under Shot put), Aidan Cox NH Thunder (11-12 3000), and Nathan Sleiman Quincy Stars (15-16 Triple Jump - and 2nd in Hurdles).
