Sprinticity Track Club

July 2018

USATF New England is proud to announce Mollie Gribbin of the Sprinticity Track Club our July 2018 Athlete of the Month. USATF-NE recognizes her hard work and great performances in the triple jump and the long jump at USATF East Region Championships and the USATF New England Open Championships.  At East Region Championships, Mollie jumped 5.45m in the long jump and 11.79 in the triple to place 4th and 3rd respectively, in the East Region. At the USATF-NE Outdoor Championships Mollie hit 5.7m and 12.33m in her jumps, and claimed the New England titles in the long and triple jumps.

Mollie is a South Burlington, VT native and attended South Burlington High School before matriculating to the University of Nebraska and the University of Missouri. As a Cornhusker and a Tiger, Ms. Gribbin set PR’s of 6.13m in the long jump and 13.2m in the triple jump. Her distance in the triple jump landed her on the Big Ten Second Team in 2015. After college, Mollie moved back to Vermont and joined Sprinticity Track Club.

Track clubs are hard to find in Vermont, but Sprinticity is looking to change that fact. Founded in 2014, they have grown exponentially, and have won both the Open Men and Open Women’s team titles at the most recent USATF-NEw England Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Mollie has nothing but good things to say about her club. “Sprinticity is a wonderful club in Burlington. It’s hard for jumpers and sprinters to find clubs in Vermont, but Sprinticity is organized, fun, and a great training environment.”

Mollie is the first triple jumper and long jumper to win this award in over 5 years. Rightfully so, the triple jump is her favorite event. It is no secret that jump events are not well covered beyond the college and Olympic levels, and Mollie recites  that sentiment, “When I say I do track and field, most people assume I am a runner, so I always love representing the jumps and real enjoy competing in them.” Regarding upcoming competition, Mollie says there are none on the horizon until the indoor season.

Outside of running, Mollie loves to go hiking in the mountains of Vermont and lives for spending time with her family and friends. After her college years in the Midwest, she is happy to be back in Vermont.
