Muscaro, Jonathas double NCAA winners

Results: Division II  Division III

Carly Muscaro (Merrimack) and Wadeline Jonathas (U.Mass-Boston) were double winners at NCAA Championships over the weekend.

At the division II meet in Bradenton FL, Muscaro, a senior, won the 200m in 23.40 and the 400m in 51.90 for her fifth and sixth career titles.

At the division III meet in Geneva OH, freshman Jonathas won the same 200m/400m double, her times of 23.57 and 52.81 setting championship and all-time NCAA division III records in both events. The 400m time, which put her nearly 2 seconds clear of the runner-up, broke a 29 year old mark set by another UMB athlete, Genessia Eddins. Three other locals won national titles in Ohio. Both high jumps were captured by local freshmen; Emma Egan (Williams) won the women's jump in 1.76m/5'9.25, and Justin Lewis (Worcester State) scaled 2.16m/7'1" in the men's competition. Senior Peter Hale (Williams) won the 5000m in 14:15.38.
