New England Masters Athletes Dominate National Championship

USATF-Masters National Championship

This past weekend numerous New England Masters athletes traveled to Cheney, Washington to compete in the USATF National Master’s Championship. Our athletes ran, jumped and threw into 8 first places finishes, 10 second place, 9 third place, 6 fourth place, and 5 sixth place marks. The Twilight Throwers led the golden way with 2 first place finishers in the Javelin and Hammer throw. Buzz Gagne won the Javelin Throw by over 13 meters in his 70-74 age group. Leading the overall medal count was Mass Velocity TC, with 14 overall medal finishes.

Individual preformances were overall solid, but Katrina Geurkink of Thor’s Stone AC made a name for herself by taking home 4 medals. A second place in the Weight Throw, and three third places in the Shot Put, Discus Throw, and Hammer Throw. Also present at the USATF Master’s National Championship was USATF-New England Master’s Chair, Michael Travers.
