New England runners fill Team USA positions

Five New England women are on Team USA rosters for a pair of upcoming regional and world championship events in the coming weeks.
New England women placed five of the top nine finishers at the USA Winter National Cross Country Championships last Saturday in Tallahassee Florida, an event which also served as the selection race for the North/Central American / Caribbean XC (NACAC) Championship.   While race runner-up Molly Seidel (Saucony/Watertown MA) declined a spot on the NACAC meet team, the reminig four locals will be wearing USA blue in El Salvador on February 17.  New Balance Boston's Emily Durgin (fifth) and the NE Distance trio of Katrina Spratford, Obsie Birru, and Rachel Schilkowsky (7-8-9) will toe the starting line for the 10km senior women's race.
Women's team coach is Gwynn Coogan, past Olympian and current XC coach at Phillips Exeter Academy (Exeter NH).  
In March, Elaina (Balouris) Tabb of the B.A.A. will race at the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships in Velencia, Spain.. Her USA teammates for the March 24 race include 2017 Boston Marathon bronze medalist Jordan Hasay and 2017 USA Marathon champion Sara Hall.

Masters Men 8km:
Greater Springfield Harries men won the M50 team title.  The squad included two age division winners - Kent Lemme (M50) and Nat Larson (M55).
Masters Women 6km:
Cathy Utzschneider (Liberty AC) won W60 division.
