Preview of 2018 ATR Series

The 2018 USA Track & Field New England (USATF-NE) All Terrain Runners (ATR) Series kicks off Saturday, May 26 at Wachusett Mountain Race in Princeton, MA. The five race series features a mountain, trail, outdoor track, cross country and road race. The series began as a way to finally answer the question, "Who is the best all terrain runner?" Started in 2014, the series offers a competitive way for runners to try different terrain than they are accustomed to racing.

The series starts at Wachusett Mountain Race, where runners will challenge themselves with a 3 mile run to the top of Wachusett Mountain. From there, athletes have the option to run the 1,500 meters at the USATF New England & East Region Masters Meet, or the 1,500 meters at the USATF New England Outdoor Championships.

Keep your eyes on Leslie O'Dell, who has consistently placed in the top three since 2015. Emma Spencer of the Boston Athletic Association could also be in contention to win the women's series. On the men's side, Scott Mindel of Central Mass Striders and teammate Dave Dunham have potential to score high in the series.

Athletes are encouraged to complete all events in the series, with first place overall men & women along with masters men & women receiving $100.
