Good performances were turned in by local scholastic runners at the Nike Cross Nationals (NXN) Northeast Qualifier at Bowdoin Park in Wappingers Falls NY. The meet was one of the eight qualifiers, and included the six New England states, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. The top 2 teams and several at-large teams from around the country, plus the top 5 individuals from non-qualifying teams advance to the final on December 14 in Oregon.

There were four top ten finishers in the girls race, led by race runner-up Abbie McNulty from Bishop Feehan of Attleboro MA. She was followed by Autumn Eastman of Champlain Valley Union HS, VT (4th), Emma McMillan of Barrington RI (5th), and Hannah Parker of Coe-Browbn Northwood NH (10th). Three teams places in the top 5; 3-Black Bear XC / Coe Brown Northwood NH; 4-Rocks XC / Bishop Feehan, Attleboro MA, and 5-.Eagles / Barrington RI. At-large teams have not been announced, but the above 4 individuals will be heading to Oregon regardless.

The boys race saw Christian Stafford of Pembroke MA in 4th and Nick Carleo of Newburyport MA in 10th, with Titans of Pembroke the top New England team in 7th. Stafford will advance to the final. Read more at NXN Northeast Regional - News.

At the Footlocker East Regional qualifier at Van Cortlandt Park in New York City, Anoush Shehadeh, a junior at Phillips Academy Andover, placed second, the sole New England association runner to advance as a top 10 finisher. Three runners each from Connecticut and Maine will also go to the 35th annual National meet in San Diego CA on December 14. Results and stories at the Foot Locker XC site.
