USATF National Mountain Championship Recap

This past Sunday, 862 people ascended the dry ski slopes on Loon Mountain Resort in Lincoln, New Hampshire as a part of the USATF Mountain Running National Championship. The meet had record participation on numerous levels and also served as the North American, Central American and Caribbean (NACAC) as well as Collegiate Running Association mountain championships. With help from Trail Sisters, woman made up close to half of all finishers, a participation rarely seen in mountain races.


In the Women’s competition, Allie MacLaughlin of Nashville, TN won the race in a 57:45 with Addie Bracy and Annie Bersegal rounding out the top three Americans. MacLaughlin boasts two USA Mountain Running Championships in her name.


On the Men’s side, Joseph Gray won hs 14th USA Track & Field Championship and set the record for the Upper Walking Boss, a half mile stretch of climb that ascends 700ft. Andy Wacker of Boulder, CO and David Fuentes of Austin, TX rounded out the top three American times.  


The USA Mountain Running Association announced the USA Mountain Running team at this event, with Allie MacLaughlin, Addie Bracy, Annie Bersegal, and Kasie Enman representing the women and Joseph Gray, Andy Wacker, David Fuentes, and Matt Daniels representing the men. The International Championship will be held in Canillo Andorra on September 16th. The USA Anti-Doping Agency was on site to ensure no rules were broken.
