USATF-New England Athletes Recognized at National Meeting

USA Track & Field-New England (USATF-NE) athletes on both ends of the age spectrum received honors at the USATF Annual Meeting held in Columbus, Ohio, last week. 
Three masters (age 40+) road runners were named "Runner of the Year" in their 5 year age division.  Andy Gardiner (B.A.A. / Dover MA) topped the M50-54 division, Nat Larson (Greater Springfield Harriers / Amherst MA) is a repeat winner in the M55-59 division, and Bill Riley (NE 65+ Running Club / Centerville MA) was the M80-84 honoree, having won the award six times in the past 10 years in his respective age divisions. Selection is based on both performance and competitive placing. 
In Masters Track & Field, thrower Julie Williams-Tinkham (Framingham MA / Twilight Throwers / MA) was competitor of the year for age 35-39, her accomplishments including setting American Records in the weight throw and ultraweight pentathlon. 
Among Youth, Michael Thomas (Waltham Track Club / Weston MA) was named to the Race Walking Committee Youth Honor Roll in the Age 13-14 group.
