Weekend masters results produce National records

Five pending US masters performances were recorded during the past weekend.at meets in Boston and Providence
In the women's masters mile at Saturday's New Balance Indoor Grand Prix meet at Boston's Reggie Lewis Center, Karolyn Bowley (B.A.A./Middletown RI) bettered her second and third W50 records of this indoor season. Bowely was second overall in the mile at 5:08.51 after passing the 1500 meter record-worthy split in 4:49.38.
On Sunday at the USATF-NE Masters Indoor Championships in Providence, Flo Meiler (Sprinticity/Shelburne VT) became the first aomen age 85 to clear heights in vertical jumps, giving her both US and World Records in the high jump and the pole vault. Meiler cleared .90 meters (2' 11.5") in the former and 1.65 meters (5' 5") in the latter.
On the track, the men's 80+ year old quartet of Jerry Levasseur, Bill Spencer, Joe Cordero, and Ram Satyaprasad earned the US M80 4 x 800 meter record in a time of 18:25.33.
