Junior Olympic Region 1 meet highlighted at Highland Park

The Junior Olympic Region 1 Championship on Sunday brought the cross country season to a close for many youth in New England and New York.  Held on the Mark Coogan Course at Highland Park in Attleboro for the first time, the day's races used several new youth-distance courses and weather better than one could expect for late November.  

The all-grass surface and routes utilizing multiple loops for spectator visibility proved to be a popular location for the event. Almost 600 youth from all 6 New England states and New York took advantage of the conditions to produce spirited competition in the 10 races.
 
Some individuals and clubs will continue competition through the USATF National Junior Olympic meet in Paris, Kentucky, on December 11.
