Top New England performances at USA Masters 10km held at James Joyce Ramble
Jan Holmquist tops Age Graded Results with 98.93
The ninth hosting of the
USATF Masters 10km Championship
at the
James Joyce Ramble
found a number of top New England member performances on a day with less than optimal weather conditions.
In the overall results, USATF-NE runners scores a pair of silver medals -
Justin Freeman
in 32:17 and
Beverly Antunes
(Somerville RR, M40), 38:02 - and they won their age division as well. Other women placing first in their categories were Mary Cass (W60, Liberty AC, 41:43), Liz Champagne (W65, Green Mountain AA), Jessica Wheeler (W70, Bristol RI) and Jan Holmquist (W75, Whirlaway RT) whose time of 50:01 a pending US record.
Other men's age winners were Gregory Putnam (M50, CMS), Nat Larson (M60, Gr.Springfield Harriers), David Westenberg (M65, Gr.Lowell RR), Hal Bennett (M80, NE 65+ RC) and Jerry Levasseur (M85, NE 65+ RC). Larson also ran a pending US best, clocking 34:24.
Holmquist, Larson, Cass,

Karolyn Bowley
placed 1-2-4-6 in the age graded results, all scoring over 90.00 with Jan's mark an amazing
98.93
Teams winning gold were B.A.A. (M40+ and W40+) CMS (M50+), Liberty AC (W60+), and New England 65+ RC (M80+).
