Evelin Tavares Pires is November Athlete of the Month

With three top cross country performances on successive weekends, Evelin Tavares Pires of Boston is the USATF New England Athlete of the Month for November 2025 Competing unattached on November 16 and 23, the 18 year old won the age 15-18 races at the New England Junior Olympic Championship and the Region 1 Championships held at Highland Park in Attleboro MA. She ended the month with a 13th place finish in the Brooks Scholastic Northeast Regional Championship on November 29 at Franklin Park. The 12th grader at the Woodward School in Quincy (which has no cross country program), capped her season in December with a bronze medal third place finish in the age 17-18 division at the National Junior Olymipc Championship on December 13 in Indiana. Pires Tavares came into the month after a second place at the Mayor's Cup 5K open race in October and started the fall campaign with a creditable 5th place in September's Codfish Bowl. Competing unattached, the 18 year old won the age 15-18 races at both the New England Junior Olympic Championship and the Region 1 Championships on November 16 and 23,. respectively, at Highland Park in Attleboro MA.  She ended the month with a 13th place finish in the Brooks Scholastic Northeast Regional Championship on November 29 at Boston's Franklin Park.
