Margot Appleton is March 2026 Athlete of the Month

Margot Appleton (New Balance Boston / Mattapoisett MA) is the USATF New England Athlete of the Month for March, 2026.

In her first year of post-collegiate competition, the University of Virginia graduate represented the USA for the first time at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Torun, Poland, running the 3000 meters and placing 14th in a time of 9:12.57 on March 22.  A competitor for Emerging Elites through high school (Portsmouth Abbey, RI), Appleton had placed third at the USA Indoor Championship 3000 meters (8:41.41) on Feburary 28, but moved up to a team position (2 per country) when current club teammate and defending World Champion Elle St.Pierre declined a team berth for family reasons.
