The mental side of sport away from actual competition
Join us for this month's Perform: 24 webinar - Mental Health for Athletes - on Thursday, April 28, at 7pm. There is nothing that athletes do that their mind does not influence. Athlete mental health made news headlines several times in the past year, most notably with Naomi Osaka and Simone Biles opting out of major competitions to focus on their mental health. The most decorated Olympian of all-time, Michael Phelps, has come forth about challenges he faced at different points during and after his career with mental health. USATF-New England is welcoming mental health empowerment speaker and entrepreneur, Ivy Watts. Ivy is a former Division II All-American track athlete, who knows firsthand the challenges that student-athletes face, the potential for struggles with mental health, and the benefit of seeking help. She is now committed to promoting mental health, especially among athletes, and reducing mental health stigma through sharing her story through public speaking and her blog, Beautifully Simply You. She holds a Master’s in Public Health, is certified in Mental Health First Aid, and speaks to thousands of athletes each year. This webinar will cover tools to promote mental health and well-being on a day-to-day basis, supporting mental health even with a busy schedule, mental health in high and low points in sports, mental health as it relates to the pandemic, resources for if a challenge with mental health arises, and more.
