Boston Mayor's Cup

The 36th Mayor's Cup is supported by and partnered with the City of Boston Parks and Recreation Department. The race was founded by legendary Boston area coach Bill Squires.

New Format and Courses for 2026
~1.2 mile  for ages 10 and Under only (Map)

3 km (1.8 miles) for ages 11-14 only  (Map) 
5K - 2 loop course  (Map) 
All Courses include Bear Cage Hill 

Due to construction at the park, modified loop courses will be used for all comers.  Because of the shortened loop courses and sections of pavement, there will be no 'championship' races in 2026, only an open 5km races for men and women.

COMPETITION SCHEDULE
Youth 1.1 Mile and 3000 meter (1.8 Mile) races
- 9:30 a.m.
* Courses as run in 2025
* Minimum age is 6 years old on race day. Parents may not run with children! 
* Division is age on day of race.   
* Teams and individuals welcome
* Separate girls and boys races for each division
* Team scoring in each race is based on the finish place of top 3 runners.  A and B teams may be declared. No displacement
Youth races start with youngest groups first
9:30 - Youth races , tentative schedule to be finalized October 1

9:30 a.m. 10 and Under Boys  
9:45 a.m. 10 and Under Girls
3K (1.8 miles)
10:00 a.m. 11-12 Boys
10:25 a.m. 11-12 Girls
10:50 a.m. 13-14  Boys
11:15 a.m. 13-14 Girls
11:45 a.m.  YOUTH RACE AWARDS

12:00 p.m Franklin Park 5K  ONE RACE Men and Women combined **
** If numbers are at least 50 in each division, the race will be split into separate women's and men's races
* Open to runners of all abilities age 15 up on race day
* Team scoring requires 5 runners finishing, one team per organization.

AWARDS

Youth Races
Divison winners (8/U, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14)
  Mayor's Cup bowls to division winners
  Medals to the top 3 individuals in each division  
  Medals to the 3 scoring members of the top 3 teams in each race 
     (Team scoring will combine 8/U and 9-10 in one race)

Franklin Park 5K
Mayor's Cup to winning overall male and female, and to the age 15-18 division winners
Bill Squires Award to winning teams.(5 runners to score)
Medals to age group winners - 15-18, 19-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+.
5K Awards may be picked up at the registration area
