2019 USATF New England Cross Country Grand Prix
This past Monday, USATF-NE Cross Country Chair, Christopher Wargo of the HFC Striders, presented the race slate for the 2019 Cross Country Grand Prix. The board confirmed the slate after a vote. A total of $4,500 in prize money is up for grabs. (Team and Individual)
The 2019 USATF New England Cross Country Grand Prix kicks off on September 8th in Carlisle, MA at the GBTC Invitational. The Greater Boston Track Club Invitational is known for giving out pie to the winning teams.( #doitforthepie) Next up on September 29th is the inaugural Brown University Running Club Brown Bear Invitational in Westfield MA. This race is a collaboration between the university’s running club and USATF-NE that aims to have our runners square off against the NIRCA collegiate clubs in the area. We at USATF-NE are quite excited! After this showdown, the series moves to Wayland High School on October 13th for the Wayland XC Festival where runners of all ages and abilities will tackle the infamously tough 5k course. Batting clean up in this year’s series is the USATF-NE XC championships in historic Franklin Park on November 10th. Last year, the course was flooded and included plenty of mud puddles, making for some fun in the mud. Finally, newcomer to the series - Rachel’s Run - will close out the series on November 23rd in Tyngsboro, MA. All of these races put New England clubs and athletes in prime position to succeed at the 2019 National Club Cross Country Championships on December 14th in Bethlehem, PA. Prize Structure
