Gloucester MA

Louis Serafini (Tracksmith) won his third straight USATF-NE road race championship with a dominating performance at the Lone Gull 10K in Gloucester MA on Sunday, September 22. 884 runners completed the seaside course as an ocean breeze tempered the unseasonably warm temperatures.

Serafini again ran unchallenged after half way and turned in a time of 29:34 for a race record and a 49 second margin over runner-up Sean O'Connor of Connecticut.  Eric Ashe (B.A.A.), fifth overall, maintained his overall lead in the GP.  Serafini's recent racing schedule bodes well for a top performance at the Chicago Marathon.

Similarly, Molly Seidel (Saucony Freedom) ran a race record time 33:41 for the women's win, strongly outdistancing Jaclyn Solimine (Whirlaway) in 35:12; Solimine remains at the top of the women's GP standings.  Seidel is looking forward to the Boston Run for Women and some cross country in the coming months.

Tracksmith men and B.A.A. women scored the open team titles. First masters were Arthur Besse (CMS) and Kasie Enman (GMAA) and top age graded marks were recorded by Liz Cooney (Somerville RR) at 93.35 and Carrie Parsi (Liberty AC) at 91.80.

The 2019 Grand Prix comes to completion at the Cape Cod Marathon on October 27 in Falmouth MA. 76 members are still in the running for Ironrunner recognition.
