USATF-NE Indoor Track & Field Championships run at Harvard

2/23/2020

Though the day was good enough to hold a track and field meet outdoors, Sunday's USATF-New England Indoor Track & Field Championships, with a combination of club, college varsity and club, and prep schools, filled Harvard University's Gordon Track in a fast-paced 5+ hour meet.   Officials from around the association had the meet running on time throughout the duration of the largest association meet in the country.

A US Masters record was broken by Maryanne Daniel (Connecticut Racewalkers) in the 3000 meter race walk, her time of 17:12.19 establishing a new American W60-64 age group record (she set the mile record on the same track a month ago at the GBTC Invitational).

One meet record was tied when Cimran Virdi (New England Pole Vault) cleared 4.05 meters / 13'3.5")
The day's top individual mark was turned in by Nathaniel Meade (Boston-North).  His triple jump win in a personal best 15.89m / 52'1.75" was good for 1047 on the IAAF points table, and the top men's mark recorded in the 2019-20 USATF-NE Points Chase.

Boston-North repeated as both men's and women's champions, their men leading Tracksmith 38-21 with Greater Boston TC third with 16 points (17 teams scored). The North women more than tripled their nearest rival, GBTC, 68-21, with Tracksmith in third at 17 (11 women's teams scored). Scoring 5-3-2-1, NE clubs only.
