Local Clubs Contest USATF Club Cross Country Nationals
BAA Masters Women Run to W40+ Team Title
A pair of local Masters teams made the podium at the USATF Cross Country Club Nationals in Tallahassee Florida on Saturday.
The
B.A.A. Women's 40+ team
brought home the Masters 40+ team trophy as
Karolyn Bowley, Erika Holroyd,
and
Heather Cappello
totaled 28 points to the 31 of Cal Coast TC. Bowley was fourth overall Masters finisher and first W50 finisher in 22:52.9 over the 6km circuit.
Central Mass Striders
men placed second in the
Men's 50+
division led by
Greg Putnam
(4th M50, 35:56.8).
Peter Hammer
of the B.A.A. topped the M55 individual results (35:46.0). In the Men's 40+ scoring, the B.A.A. men were a close fourth paced by Alex Taylor's sixth place.
Eric Blake
(CMS) was top local master, third overall in 33:14.2.
Robert McCormack
(HFC Striders) turned in the top local result in the men's 60+ 8km race, placing 4th in 31:10.3.

M40+: 4.B.A.A. 122; 8.HFC Striders 255; 17.B.A.A. B, 401.
M50+: 2.CMS, 89; 7.Greater Springfield Harriers, 151.
Led by the bronze medal finish of
Annie Rodenfels
, the Boston Athletic Association placed 4th at the USATF Fall National/Club Cross Country Championship. The New England and Mayor's Cup champion clocked 19:48.4 for the 6km circuit. Also in the top 25 were Anne-Marie Tuxbury (Craftsbury, 17th 20:44.3) and Abbey Wheeler (B.A.A., 19th, 20:48.4)
Women's Open Teams
: 4.B.A.A. 157; 11.Tracksmith Hare 303; 23.HFC Striders 651.
The B.A.A. was also the top USATF-NE Men's Open team in 13th, with the Unicorns'
Paul Hogan
the top individual, also 13th (31:14.0) and the only local in the top 25.
Men's Open Teams
: 13.BAA 365; 24.Tracksmith Hare 582; 28.Greater Boston TC 720.
Hanstons-Brooks Distance Project (Michigan) swept both open team titles.
