Deep competition in Primary Bank Super Sunday 4 Mile
The mid-February start to this year's USATF-NE Road Race Grand Prix and a snowy day did not dampen the competition or participation at the series opener, the Primary Bank Super Sunday 4 Mile on Sunday. Nearly 500 USATF-NE members were among 1300 total finishers who took to the roads of Bedford NH prior to the "Big Game". Boston Tracksmith Hares edged the B.A.A for men's team honors with Hartbeat New England third among 18 scoring clubs. The three medaling teams were within 42 seconds after totaling up their top 5. The women's team results found Tracksmith and B.A.A. again 1-2 with Whirlaway a close third among 15 point earning clubs.. Leading the field home was Matt MacDonald (B.A.A.) in 19:20, as 13 men bettered 20:00. Women's winner Jessie Cardin (Unattached) clocked an impressive 20:57; she was 10th in December's USATF National Half Marathon Championship. Noteworthy was the increase in participation from last year's abbreviated season. The older divisions were particularly deep, as it was the first time all 10 place points were awared in both the W60 and W65 age groups. .
