Charlotte Tuxbury is May Athlete of the Month

May was a busy month for Charlotte Tuxbury (Emerging Elites / Wellesley, MA) as she started the month with a personal best in the mile (4:59:50) before heading to Annecy, France to compete as part of the USATF U18 Mountain Running Team in the 16th annual International U18 Mountain Running Cup where Charlotte finished in 8th place.  Her finish helped propel the US Girls Team to a Silver Team Medal.

The U18 Mountain Race took place at Semnoz Mountain just outside of Annecy on a 4.6 kilometer course featuring 230 meters of elevation and descent. The course included several sections with grades of over 20 percent and a technical descent mainly on a ski trail and mountain service road. This was Charlotte’s first international race as well as her first mountain race.
