Multiple Masters Records Set at Lynn 1 Hour Run
4 one hour records and 5 time records
Four USATF-NE members combined to establish four pending 1 Hour Run records and five additional distance US Masters records at the 12th annual
Lynn One Hour Run
at Manning Field in Lynn MA on Saturday morning. Cool and sunny conditions were conducive to fast running.
Dan Vassallo
(Central Mass Striders) broke the M40-44 distance by covering 18,848 meters (11.71 miles) over the hour; the previous record of 18,586m dated back to 1993. On the way, Vassallo also bettered age group times for 15,000 meters and 10 Miles.
Three women made the record board.
Mary Cass
(Liberty AC) matched the triple record achievement for W65-69 (13,208 meters for hour) while
Amory Rowe Salem
(Cambridge Sports Union) bettered the hour (14,575 meters) and 15,000 meters marks, and
Barbara Belanger
(Liberty AC) covered 7371 meters for a new W85-89 standard. (All records subject to ratification).
Hosted by the Lynn Parks & Recreation Department, director Joe Abelon was supported by staff from the Lynn Woods race series and Lynn English High School ROTC.
